Farewell Sweet Love - Copyright (C) 10/19/08 by Dan Sharpe

He held her frailty gently, his strong arms softly laying her in their bed for the last time. He knelt beside the bed and took her small hand in his and wept.

He wept tears of loss, tears of gratitude for a life well shared, and tears of joy knowing that she was home now. Her years of pain, and months of agony now behind her.

He glanced at the family picture on the nightstand, thankful for the gift of the four generations wrapped around her at her final birthday party. The legacy of their love, their blood, their sweat, and not a few tears.

He was greatful for every beat of her heart, for her every breath. The memories of her smiles, warmly chereshed treasures, eased the aching loss he carried deep within him.

He held her cold hand against his cheek for a moment, then got up and kissed her brow. "Farewell, sweet love, thank you for the best years, the brightest moments, and the warmest hours of my life. I love you, always, and forever." He turned on weak knees to face his first day without her.
