Cotton Candy Castles - Copyright (c) 5/20/08 by Dan Sharpe.

Cotton Candy castles in the sky go floating by,
as I dream of you.
They make my day a languid lullabye,
as I catch a wink or two.

In my serene Summer slumber,
I dream of days gone by.
Before leaves of burnt umber,
Fall crumbling from the sky.

I wake and recall Winter's chill embrace,
when its bitter cold descended and froze my tears in place.
Thawed by Spring's eternal vigor, I found the strength to hope,
but hope is like a hangman's rigger, laying out the rope.

And so I lay me down to sleep,
my parched dreams to slake,
they are watered as I weep,
and all my hopes forsake.
