Au Revoir (A very short story) - Copyright (C) 6/8/10 by Dan Sharpe.

Crystal spires rake an azure sky, as twin suns set, and 4 moons perch over
a city that was vacated long before Ezekiel saw his wheel.

My boots leave their legacy in the orange dust as I stroll down orphaned streets,
marveling at art, and architecture born of minds incomprehensible to mankind.

As my eyes behold wonder upon wonder, I turn back and survey my crashed ship.
With it's life sustaining atmosphere vented to the void, I have but the few minutes
of air remaining in my suit's tanks.

I place your hologram on what appears to be a 4 foot high bench,
and dictate this final message before I fade to black.

I've lived a spacer's dream, walked a dozen worlds, seen a hundred wonders,
but I'd trade it all, just to hold you in my arms one more time.
